.NET 6 is now included in Ubuntu 22.04 and can be easily installed with apt install dotnet6. Additionally, .NET 6 is available with Chiseled Ubuntu Containers, a new small and secure container offering from Canonical. These updates are the result of a new partnership between Microsoft and Canonical. The Chiseled Ubuntu image is 100MB smaller than the previous Ubuntu image, and the new container images significantly improve security. Canonical and Microsoft are committed to working together to ensure that new .NET releases are available with new Ubuntu releases and that they work well together.
