Our default state is to feel identical to the stream of thought, but meditation can help us examine this point of view and ultimately feel the freedom on the other side of the identification with thoughts. Objectively, every reason to believe that our thoughts are the products of some sort of neural computation and representation within the brain. While memories appear to come from nowhere, they can be understood as the products of neural processes.
